During the destruction of the Camiguin Volcano eruption in the 18th hundreds century the stories and facts told by numerous old folks of Danao and as told by an old grandfather Runino Mabanta before his death in 1949.

     Rufino Mabanta the grand old man of Danao was one of the pioneers who explored the dense forest in Punta Gorda up to the area of Danao and around its immediate vicinity forested areas into a bountiful farm.

     During that time there was an abundant/plenty of water scattered in the near forest, that’s why this barangay was called Danao due to “nag danaw and tubig”.


      Danao has a total area of 959.3149 hectares. It is the 4th barangay in an alphabetical order in 15th barangay in the municipality of Jasaan.


      Barangay Danao is consists of (8) Puroks. It has 575 total number of households and 589 total number of families and 33 total number of familes still living in their parent’s  household and the  total number of population is 2,986. The barangay is an upland and agricultural area.


             Farming is the top of the primary occupatio if the contituents in the barangay. 15% are laborers and some of them were hired in an agricultural, industrial and construction works in other domestic places and also 5% laborers and 5% skilled workers hired in abroad.

                The Primary livelihoods of the people in the barangay are also as follows:
